We’ve been recently using PeerWise to great success within our module, with the students really engaged. We’re also expecting to see an increase in use prior to the formative assessment as the students use the course for revision.
However, our module lead raised one concern that was interesting.
Is it possible to convert a course to becoming read-only? I.e. students can continue practicing questions but no longer can add new ones to it.
The reason is that he’s wondering if students will add SBAs (that they can remember) from the in-course assessment to the PeerWise question bank. This of course will not make the assessment people here happy!
If it’s not possible, the workarounds that we’ve been thinking of is whether to remove identifiers post the formative assessment, and then reinstate them prior to the summative assessments at the end of the year, although we’d rather not remove access for students at all if possible!
